Metro Stuff
Metro came to be in the late 60’s. It all started with a few shows at conventions, sportsman’s dinners and trade shows. By the early 70’s Metro was doing TV ads for various local businesses. In the mid 70's The Cottonpickers T.V. show came about and we had 26 - 1/2 hour shows that played on most TV stations in Western Canada. In 1975 METRO went to Regina and in the studios of CKCK radio, we recorded THE 11 DAYS FROM XMAS [ on tape ]The calls flooded the radio station with folks looking for a copy of the song. The next year, after some investigation, it was decided to do a complete album of Christmas classics. Sales exceeded all projections. The following year, with distribution improvements, albums sales past the GOLD RECORD status.[ 50,000 ]
Metro has traveled from Victoria on the West coast to Northern Manitoba. He has appeared on National TV and various fund raising charity events. In the late 70’s, Metro was asked to be a part of the Canadian Armed Forces Christmas show that appeared in Edmonton, Germany, Cypress, Israel and Egypt. This 6 week tour was for the Canadian Peace keepers in Europe. We appeared for Canadian Troops who were serving in NATO and The United Nations.
Over the years,we are truly thankfull for the chance to meet and be with some truly special people, from entertainers to sports personalities, we have had a ball and have enjoyed help raise a huge amount of money for charities,
THE ELEVEN DAYS FROM CHRISTMAS......... This album recorded at Singwell Studios in Vancouver in 1975. The first year we pressed 14,000 long play albums and sales took off. With very limited retail outlets,we could not believe the response we had encountered. Over the next 2 years ,we improved our distribution and sales continued to grow. What started out as a fun thing had grown into a large enterprise. This album is what helped METRO establish the character.This album has gone from a Vinyl long play ...to 8 track......to cassette tape....to C.D.....wonders never cease.......
METRO GOES COUNTRY...... was released in late october of 1978 and sales of this album exceeded all expectations and projections as well.Sales of this album have passed 40,000 and are still going strong.
METRO LIVE was done on a -30 below stormy February night for the Melfort Saskatchewan Kinsmen. This was part of their Telemiracle donation. Considering the temperature that night,over 300 folks braved the elements to listen to Metro and Jake do their thing.
.METROS NEXT TO LAST XMAS ALBUM ......was done in 2008 and has received great response and radio play.This album was instumental in getting the METRO SHOW up and running.Once we got air play, we started to get calls inquiring about our Show.We appreciate your support.
METROS RURAL AND WASTURN ALBUM.... was recorded in 2009 and is it a gooder as JAKE says....we have such hits as HOT TUB REFUGEE....ARE YOU LONESOME TONIGHT .......and Who can forget ....IF MY NOSE WAS RUNNIN MONEY ....I'D BLOW IT ALL ON You......Great players and the music is damm good too.
METRO UNPLUGGED was filmed on 2009.This is Metros first video.[ dee wee dee..wideeoh ..] ...This video is 1hour and 15 minutes of..METRO' ISIMS....And some some real life changing information...folks have told us
